Power of Prayer

Elder Stewart and Ricardo

This week was awesome everybody! We did the math and we have 43 investigators!!! I run everywhere!!! We literally have 4 hours of contacting in a week and all the rest are with investigators haha. I had another experience with the power of prayer. We were supposed to meet up with a guy and he wasn't there and we didn't know where he lived. We prayed to find him and then we walked like halfway across town being guided by the spirit straight to a house that we found. We asked a lady where this guy lived and it was right at the house we stopped at. God listens to your prayers everybody!!! I love you all and hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving!

Comments from emails:

-How far are you from the temple/CCM?
I´m 30mins from the temple.

-How often do you eat with members?
I eat sometimes with members.

-What are you eating?
Always rice and beans with some kind of meat with random bones.

-How do you wash your clothes?
We wash it in this really bad washing machine that breaks everytime we use it haha.

-How are the bugs?
The mosquitoes bite me every night cause they love my blood I guess. I've seen one giant spider haha the flies are literally everywhere here so we bought bug zappers haha.

-Do you walk everywhere or take public transportation?
We walk everywhere unless we take a taxi or a bus and they race and hit people and we hang out the doors to fit people in.

-Are transfers every 6 weeks?
Yes

Saludos!

This week was much better than last week. I gave a talk in sacrament meeting yesterday and I´m glad that's over haha. The people here are so loving and they show me their love everyday and it´s amazing. They are super patient and also very crazy haha. They race their taxis everywhere here! Even the buses race here it´s the funniest thing ever haha. These people are hilarious! We went to Los Tres Ojos today. It´s a super cool national park of caves. Love you guys!

Comments from other emails:

-There is massive rain everyday. I step in about a 8 inch puddle about everyday.... haha.
And they definitely don't speak Spanish here haha!

-We are working Crazy hard! We have 7 baptismal dates 2 of them for sure getting baptized.

-Also I gave a talk on Sunday haha. It went really well. They said they could understand me.

-Zones pretty big maybe 24 in our district.

-Something I miss is sports. The bishopric is made up of guys in their upper 20s and they are always talking about b-ball haha.

-There are 130 or so people in our ward.

-I gave marriage counseling last night and this morning hahaha. I got a haircut while I was giving marriage counseling haha. I'm a master of multi tasking haha.

-Do you ever eat at members homes?
Yup some really gnarly food too. I just imagine its the maui bowl and down it goes haha.

-Favorite thing and least favorite thing about the DR so far?
Favorite-Definitely the people.
Least favorite- I don't like it when the younger kids cussed us out in english and threw stuff at my head cause I didn't give them money haha.

Hola everybody from La Republica Dominicana!

Sorry if there are a lot of spelling errors on here but this computer isn´t all that good haha. I love the people here! It´s so hot and humid! I don´t speak Spanish at all and neither do the Dominicans haha. I have no idea what they are saying haha. They are so nice. I´m in Los Tres Brazos a part of Santo Domingo Este. Everybody here is crazy haha. There are basically no laws so it´s just straight up chaos haha. I love the people and I still gotta get used to eating the same food every day haha. Rice. Beans. Meat. Gotta Love the DR!

Comments from other emails:

I´m in Los Tres Brazos! The Three Arms…the biggest area of anywhere in Santo Domingo and we walk all day and I´m dead tired everyday haha.
I love the people here! I don´t speak their language or anything and I don´t understand them 95% of the time but they are so loving. Our biggest problem in this country is that nobody gets married. They all believe in Jesus and God but never wanna get married. We are constantly running around and have so many investigators!
My companion is super cool! He´s from Texas and his name is Elder Esserine. He used to play the trombone and loves fishing and high adventure. He´s been here for 2 months but got the gift of tongues in the CCM. This guy is crazy good at Spanish!
It´s so hot here! Sun hardly comes out and it pours all the time. I just keep smiling and saying hi to people. They seem to like it.
I´m also using alot of the stickers haha. Everybody loves stickers! We teach an english class on Friday´s and this week we had 25 people attend! New record!
My tag wore off from the extreme climate change haha.
There is trash everywhere here! I see dogs and cats everywhere! Dead and alive but just barely. The poverty here is insane!
Coldest showers I´ve ever taken and the facet doesn't work so we have to use the droplets that come out of the faucet.
It smells so much like gas here! Everyone here uses propane instead of gas and it smells so bad.
There´s no rules of the road here so if you look it up, Dominican´s are the worst drivers in the world. They pack us in cars like sardines.
It´s insane here and you never get a break not even on P days. We eat the same food everyday and I´m kind of already sick of rice haha.
I love the people here so much. They say that I was born old. They also call me Elder Stewart Little haha. They said I look like a movie star and I said Tom Cruise and they said ya haha.

Made it to the DR!

I just got picked up from the airport by these chill missionaries and they are dropping me off at the mtc here to stay the night. Taught my first investigator on the plane haha. Taught her about temples! She’s from punta cana. She was really nice. Welp gotta get back to the work! ¡Buenas noches!

JFK International Airport

Elder Stewart is on his last leg of his journey to the Dominican Republic. He met this Elder on his way to the Brazil MTC and this Sister who is on her way to the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo 'West' Mission. I received this random email from a wonderful stranger with this photo attached this afternoon. This photo made my day!
